from rags to riches

the most divine little cat princess has found itself a new home at my parents house. the poor thing seems to be of royal lineage, yet somehow managed to end up homeless. since this falls into my line of work, i have been offering it petting-therepy and i think we are making good headway. she hasn't been able to get over the living accomodations from the streets yet, and still prefers cardboard to silk.. but at least she uses her great architechtual skills to redesign the boxes. and she is a great arctic hunter as well...

house and garden

hans helped us get the gardens in front and behind our house back up to par this week. without lilly around, no one was taking care of it.. he had fun (i think) and now it looks great!

the paparazzi's proof:

lego.. (or lets go)

this post was meant for later this week, but since its finished, i'll just put it up ahead of time..

so now i am on my way to dallas. i won't have much time while i'm there, though, because i am going to the wedding of these fine two people:

i'm lilly's maid of honor (and did i mention i set them up??) so i will be dressed like this:

in case you want to join the lego-party, just follow the link and "create yourself", as we'd say at beloit..

bookclub: pigs in heaven

i just finished this a week ago, but forgot to blog about it. so herre goes.. i liked that the book centered on and confronted various clashes, and that the primary clash was cultural. there were also the elements of parent-child, and individual-group, and man-woman, but they were not as strong. what i didn't like as much about the book was that it was pretty far-fetched. i don't mean the story line there so much as the decisions the characters made.

anyway, it's a book about a young lady and her adopted indian daughter. theres a custody issue to be taken care of, and things kinda get out of hand. i'd give the story a 4 and the issues in the story a 6.

i bet you you can't say ___ on the television...

pardon the bad monty python reference in the title.

last night i went to the studio for a jubilaum shoot for 361degrees bremen. we had to show little bits of our films and talk about them..

edina had never moderated before and was rather nervous. i gave her a few tips from my theater experience,, which helped her calm down. and then things went pretty well.. right up through my interview.

then it occured to her that she doesn't know why i chose the title i did. and she asked.

keep in mind here, this is PBC and we aren't allowed to make religious statements. but there was no other way to answer. the film is called "ebenbild," and that's an old german word that is only used in Goethe and the Bible.. so i answered, "well, no matter where we are from, we are all created in Gods image [ebenbild]."

she was a little shocked and started stuttering and said, "uhm, yeah..... uhm.. i think we need to meditate on that one a minute.. uhm.. lets just watch the next clip."

senoritas patheticas

:-(

(it's the end of the world as we know it...)

kate is gone. she left me yesturday. what can i say to that? it's like the voices in my head vanished, or my siamese twin was seperated.. i had really gotten used to her just being there and being funny. i'm glad i at least have alot of distractions right now.. (sometimes, i need somebody to leeeaaaan on) the girls from celle are there, and karina spent the night. and now, lilly is on her way to germany (and i am on the computer and phone desperately organizing her stay in frankfurt..)

kate being here was a very german time. we did all things german. like eat chineese/thai, spanisch, irish, mexican, greek, italian, indian, dutch... we somehow missed the turkisch food though.. (eat it, just eat it..open up your mouth and feed it...)

we also saw alot of germany. like viertel. and sielwall. and the scene. yes, all of that is on the same street. to be fair though, we tried to go to hamburg- twice. (who actually wants to "walk 500 miles"?)

and she did get me to dance. (because: we can dance if we want to...) and go out alot at night, like to the free band contest for ska. (she fell in love with the drummer, she fell in love with another...) rythm, baby.. where'd it go? art student, art student!! still beats the rocks, though. although they rock..

even though the blue one no longer had potato buds on her head, and the girls were on repeat, we managed to watch a few films, confirming that hollywood and berlin do in fact share the secrets of cross-film plot sharing down to the details. no one will find out.. but oh please, i would know! ;-)

the locals made their lasting impression on us as well. there were the arabic speaking girls who in a smirk changed to german, the russian guys who don't like the way i walk, and the old turkisch man who understood- but "dos" what??

ok, i'll stop. most of this post is only relevant for kate anyway.. for the rest of you, man did that help!! and i'll be in dallas from march 23 till april 15th.

cell for two

the hope house has come into contact with two rather suspicious characters. they are said to have gotten out of their cell... or celle.. hmm.. and they are strongly suspected of being jesus freaks. we decided to lock them up in the basement for a week, just to be on the safe side. (but we let them out durring the day to work..) they will have to get used to our unfriendly conditions, prison rations, and hard labor...

ransom note

getting home from the jesus freaks tonight, i found this rather curious envelope waiting for me.

at first i didn't think much of it, expecting it to be some paperwork or an invitation somewhere. i had alot to do (eat, clean) because people were on their way over to watch a (german) movie with kate and i. eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and i opened the envelope.

no note. in fact, there is nothing on the envelope or its contents to clue me in as to who might of left it for me. but the contents are straight from God:

money: more than i have ever been given at one time. and especially right now, when i really need it.

i was speachless and shaking for about an hour, just in awe of Gods provision. i mean WOW!
